Ethiopia is a politically enabling environment for rapid scale-up of innovations to improve the survival of mothers and babies but there are still barriers, such as a weak health system and a lack of information sharing between externally funded programmes working in Ethiopia. The brief suggests ways in which programmes could catalyse scale-up of their maternal and newborn health innovations from the woreda (districts) they are working in to the national level.
